Decorating Mom's Apartment with Minimalist Prints!

After moving my mom to a new apartment down the street from me, she was only starting to get used to her new surroundings when the pandemic hit full force. After waiting 6 weeks in quarantine to make sure that I was absolutely not infected, I came over to my mom’s house with a large package from Redbubble and began decorating.

All the prints featured in her home were kindly send to me by Redbubble. They have thousands of different prints so there’s something for everyone. I love the fact that they partner with local artists to make these prints come alive! If you’re a graphic design artist, you can actually upload your work onto Redbubble and receive a percentage when someone purchases an item with your print on it!

I chose very warm and minimalistic designs for her apartment because I wanted the prints to complement the relaxing atmosphere that we already have going on. There are pops of nude, pink, and mustard throughout her space. It’s very cheerful!

What’s funny is that when I was hanging the “Free Indeed” tapestry, my mom just stared and asked, “What does that mean? I’m free?” LOL! I told her, “It means you like free things.” 😉 But the real reason why I chose this tapestry was because I wanted to proclaim God’s freedom over her life. She’s already received salvation, but she doesn’t necessarily know how to live from a place of freedom. There’s still a heavy sense of fear and scarcity in her overall outlook in life, and I want her to break out of that bondage and live in true freedom. So, this tapestry is essentially my prayer and prophecy over her life. ❤️

Since my mom also has a certain affinity for the ocean, I also hung up an abstract print of the ocean above her dining table. It’s summery and cheerful without screaming, “BEACH!!!”

Finally, I also chose these sweet tote bag designs from Redbubble to just help my mom reduce her plastic consumption. These make for sturdy grocery bags that can be reused again and again.

If you’re looking for the perfect print for your home, check out Redbubble! They literally have every kind of print that I can possibly think of, so I’m sure there’s something for you! Remember to use the code “RBC-F20-girlandtheword” for 15% off your order (expires July 31, 2020)!
