Our 2022 Christmas Home Makeover!

It’s our first Christmas at our new house! I’m so grateful to have moved in before the holiday season. Although we were truly blessed with a cozy and affordable place to stay while we were renovating this house, the feeling of being settled is incomparable. I told myself that I wouldn’t “go overboard” with our Christmas decor this year because we are on a tight budget, but I took one stroll around TJ Maxx and it was all over 😂 Just kidding, we stayed within our budget but the decor kept growing in size! It’s definitely not a “minimal” look anymore hahah. Regardless, many things were DIYed so I have no regrets! Our color palette for this year was White and Gold. I hope you’ll enjoy the photos below! I’ll link to all featured products at the end of my blog post. ❤️ For furniture links, check out THIS blog post!

We started off strong, with this beautiful faux Sanibel Spruce from Balsam Hill. I love that it came pre-fluffed so I didn’t have to do much to assemble it! The presents below are all real and wrapped by me. Just a simple ivory wrapping paper with black satin ribbons. I initially wanted to go for a more vintage look but I think the layout of our home lends itself to a more polished and modern vibe. I don’t mind! :) It’s fun to work with the personality of the home rather than fighting against it.

All of our wreaths and garlands were from TJ Maxx, and the dried orange slices were DIYed by me. Check out my tutorial HERE!

Ollie is the MVP. He followed me around the house all day while I hung up our Christmas decor like the good boy that he is. In the end, he fell asleep while I documented the finished product. I love this little bear!

This is my first time ever decorating a fireplace mantel so I was STOKED!! How do you think it turned out? 😊

It’s pretty incredible to have a space like this because growing up, my family could barely even afford a single Christmas tree. My mom couldn’t bear to buy one because we needed money for necessities. It wasn’t until my dad had passed away that she decided to purchase a tree, just to bring some comfort into our home. My mother worked her whole life to save enough money to help me purchase my first home. I couldn’t have purchased this place without the help of my strong, faithful, and resilient immigrant mother. I’m so inspired by her stewardship and will continue to pass on her tenacious spirit to my future children.

The glow at night is something special, isn’t it? Light is such a powerful source of comfort and healing.

I also created this DIY Christmas village using crafts from the $5 section at Target and some additional pieces from Amazon. It was so easy to make and reminds me of the Village at Big Bear Lake! I’ll link to my materials down below. For now, enjoy the photos!

I’m so happy with how it all turned out so I hope you enjoyed the tour! Feel free to send this blog post to your friends or share the photos on Pinterest to spread the inspiration.
